Anthony Daniels Assures Fans C-3PO Will Not Be CGI In ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Anthony Daniels Jj Abrams Adam Driver Harrison Ford Star Wars

Anthony Daniels, the actor who has appeared as C-3PO in all six Star Wars films, has confirmed that no CGI will be used for his character in Jj Abrams upcoming Episode VII. The actor, who is the only member of the Star Wars cast to appear in all six films, was replaced by CGI animation for C-3PO’s action seances in the prequel trilogy.

C-3PO and R2-D2 Star WarsAnthony Daniels has always been the man behind C-3PO

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Daniels said, “There’s no way I would just do the voice. I will tell you that when JJ Abrams rang me to ask about filming Episode VII, one of the first things he said after he told me how wonderful I was — and that didn’t take long — but he then said, ‘Would you be interested in being in the film just doing the voice?’ I said, ‘No.’ And he said, ‘Right!’ He knew I’d say that.”

What If Review

With his first romantic-comedy, Daniel Radcliffe proves adept at delivering snappy dialogue and generating strong chemistry with his costars, so it's frustrating that the film is never remotely believable. Director Michael Dowse and writer Elan Mastai find some cleverly original angles on the genre, but never seem sure whether this is silly slapstick or darker black comedy. They also indulge in several appallingly corny plot points that would only happen like this if they were written by a screenwriter.

Radcliffe plays Wallace, a British guy living in Toronto. After a bad break-up he has dropped out of med school and let his life drift aimlessly, but now his best pal Allan (Adam Driver) is tired of his moping around. So he introduces Wallace to his cousin Chantry (Zoe Kazan), and the two hit it off. The problem is that Chantry has a lovely boyfriend, Ben (Rafe Spall), so just wants to be friends. Wallace is smitten but pretends that this is fine. And this causes a serious problem as they get to know each other over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, Allan has his own fast-moving relationship with Nicole (Mackenzie Davis), and he urges Wallace to make a move when Ben is transferred to Dublin for six months. The question is whether Chantry feels the same way about him.

Dowse has always been good at finding the sharper edges of humour in any scene (see Fubar or Goon), but this film has a squishy sentimental centre that threatens to undo it at every turn. There are also several goofy moments that strain credibility, such as when Wallace and Chantry are forced to share a sleeping bag naked. Meanwhile, the characters are so perky that they're somewhat exhausting. The actors seem to be trying desperately to make us like them in every scene, and sometimes this works simply because they are genuinely engaging. But the best moments are when Radcliffe hesitates awkwardly or explores the darker side of his longing, or when Kazan reveals the doubt behind her super-cute eyes.

HBO would only confirm that Lyonne was set to join the cast but wouldn't offer any more details regarding the nature of her role or when we can expect her to appear. The 35 year-old TV star is the latest in a line of actors announced to be guesting on Dunham's show.

Star Wars Spin-off To Be Filmed In London, Announces Chancellor George Osborne

Chancellor George Osborne is excited about a new Star Wars spin-off, but not in the same way sci-fi geeks are. In fact, he announced the news that it would be filmed in the U.K via Twitter with the hashtag “#LongTermEconomicPlan”. Exciting, huh?

The spin-off, which has been rumoured to centre on one of Star Wars’ iconic supporting characters; Han Solo and Boba Fett have been heavily rumoured. Mr Osborne said: “Lucasfilm and Disney’s decision to shoot the Star Wars standalone movie in the UK is testament to the incredible talent in Britain,” in a statement. “This will mean more jobs and more investment. It is great news for people working at Pinewood Studios, from the set designers to the carpenters.”

Millennium Falcon Photos From 'Star Wars 7' Set Leak: Could It Be?

Jj Abrams Carrie Fisher Lupita Nyong'o Harrison Ford Mark Hamill Gwendoline Christie Peter Mayhew Domhnall Gleeson Adam Driver

We have been given our first look at the brand new Millennium Falcon that is being built for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, thanks to an alleged photo leak TMZ has published. The new shots, which are purported to feature full-size space vehicles from the sci-fi franchise, have strongly hinted that Han Solo's iconic spaceship and others will be included in Jj Abrams upcoming reboot.

If the photos are real, they are evidence that Abrams' team has decided to create full-size versions of the vehicles that George Lucas' movies only made in miniature model sizes. It will also indicate that Episode VII will use minimal CGI effects in favour of high spec props and spacecraft models. Eagle-eyed observers also spotted what looks like an X-Wing starfighter amongst the other unknown constructions.

The photos were evidently taken in some kind of cavernous hangar which fans are speculating could be England's Pinewood Studios, where much of the movie's filming will take place. Vast sets are shown being built out of wood and covered with ladders and scaffolding as Abrams' vision slowly takes form.

What If Trailer

Wallace has just about giving up on finding love and relationships. He's dropped out of medical school and seems quite happy to spend all of his time at home, barely venturing out of the apartment he shares with his promiscuous roommate Allen. When he is persuaded to attend a party, however, he meets Chantry; a girl determined to be friends with Wallace. While Wallace is rather taken by her initially, he is disappointed that she has a boyfriend but willing to make their special friendship work. Everyone around them is sceptical about their platonic relationship despite their insistence that men and women can indeed be just friends. Though the more they try and insist they are not falling in love, the less convinced they are making themselves. Feeling confused and guilty, Wallace and Chantry must look deep within themselves to puzzle out the meaning of their chemistry.

'What If' was originally named ‘The F Word’ and is a rom-com based on the  T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi play 'Toothpaste and Cigars'. It has been directed by Michael Dowse ('Goon', 'Take Me Home Tonight', 'It's All Gone Pete Tong') and written by Elan Mastai ('Alone in the Dark', 'Fury', 'Sk8 Life'), and it has already won two awards with a further four nominations.

Good news for Star Wars fans, Lupita fans and just people who enjoy good things in general – Lupita Nyong’o has joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Kudos to whoever is making the casting decisions there, by the way. After the original casting was criticised for basically populating the film with all white men, hiring the most promising young Oscar winner of 2014 is probably the best way to recover.

Abrams sent a touching note to every member of the cast and crew stating what “an honour” it was to work with them and thanking them for all the “work past and future.” Abrams, who is directing the upcoming instalment in Star Wars, wished the actors well and asked they “take good care” of themselves and “each other”. The picture was obtained by moviefone and appears to have been written on a discarded piece of script paper. He also reminded them of the magnitude of the task they are taking on. Towards the end of his note he wrote “the world awaits this film,” encouraging his cast and crew with “let’s give ‘em something great!”

Tracks Review

The true story behind this movie just about makes up for its oddly flat tone, which never quite captures either the grandeur of the Australian Outback or the deeper emotions of the people on-screen. The acting is superb, but director John Curran (The Painted Veil) opts for a warm, slick style when something much spikier was called for.

It's the story of Robyn Davidson (Mia Wasikowska), a young woman who in 1975 decided to walk nearly 2,000 miles from Alice Springs to the western coast as a way of connecting with her explorer father, who vanished on a similar trek. She needs at least three camels to carry her supplies, so she spends nearly a year working for camel dealers (Rainer Bock and John Flaus) learning how to care for the animals and earning cash to buy them. She also gets sponsorship cash from National Geographic magazine, which sends photographer Rick Smolan (Adam Driver) along to document the trip, which is a series of amazing encounters, beautiful landscapes and colourful local customs.

Wasikowska is superb as the plucky young woman who drops out of society to take on this mind-boggling challenge. In a nicely understated performance, she conveys Robyn's steely courage and tenacity, as well as her reluctance to accept the help she needs. The most inspiring aspect of the story is Robyn's ultimate observation: "I'd like to think an ordinary person is capable of anything." So it's a bit frustrating that Curran keeps trying to turn her into a movie heroine, complete with sun-drenched childhood flashbacks and a tetchy romance with the always-terrific Driver.

Lena Dunham’s keynote speech at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, reinforced precisely why we love her. She claims that the festival “proved to be the greatest week of my life...I ate tacos. I drank milkshakes. I swam in Barton Springs. Inside Llewyn Davis Review

The Coen brothers have a wry twinkle in their eyes as they take us on a lyrical journey with a hugely likeable musician for whom success is only barely out of reach. It's also an engaging exploration of both the the early 1960s New York folk music scene that gave us Bob Dylan and the tenacity it takes to make your dreams come true.

It's 1961, and Llewyn Davis (Isaac) isn't sure he wants to fight anymore. His career has stalled, and he's moving from couch to couch trying to pick up gigs. But he doesn't have anything to lose, and when he inadvertently acquires a pet cat he has a bit of purpose for a change. On the other hand, his longtime friendship with husband-and-wife folk duo Jim and Jean (Timberlake and Mulligan) is strained when Jean tells him she's pregnant with a child that might be his. In need of cash, he takes a job in Chicago, taking a long road-trip with two nutcases (Hedlund and Goodman). And he even considers re-enlisting in the Merchant Marines.

Despite Llewyn's quiet desperation, the Coens keep the film's tone light and endearing, with constant comical touches that keep us smiling right to the cleverly elliptical ending. They also pack the movie with folk music that's gorgeously produced by T Bone Burnett, offering emotive counterpoints to Llewyn's sardonic sense of humour. His snappy wit often gets him into trouble, but we can immediately see his depth of character as well, and Isaac is terrific in the role, the kind of guy we would happily spend a lot more time with.
