Lupita Nyong'o's stolen dress may have been found. The dress, worn by the 12 Years A Slave actress to The Oscars on Sunday (22nd February), was reportedly stolen a few days after the ceremony. The pearl embroidered dress, designed by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein, is worth an estimated $150,000. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department released a statement earlier today (28th February) stating a dress resembling Nyong'o's had been uncovered in a bathroom at the same hotel.

The dress was reportedly stolen on Wednesday (25th February) from Nyongo'o's room at the London Hotel in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department released a statement shortly after the theft came to light and explained how it was possible, after the cleaning staff had left the room, the door may not have been properly locked.

"I can confirm a dress was stolen from the London Hotel that belonged to the actress Lupita Nyong'o. We believe it was taken sometime during the day yesterday (25th February). We are looking at every scenario; when the cleaners go to clean the rooms they do it with the door open so that's a possibility," an LA Sheriff's Department spokesperson told Us Weekly

However, a dress which reportedly resembles Nyong'o's has been found in the same hotel from which it was stolen. The dress was discovered on Friday (27th February) after an anonymous source (thought to be the thief) tipped off TMZ. In turn TMZ informed the Sheriff's Department and police discovered a black garment bag, containing a similar dress, in an abandoned bathroom on the second floor of the London Hotel.

Nyong'o and Costa have issued statements following the recovery of the similar dress, as E! reports.

"All of us at Calvin Klein are thrilled to know that the dress has potentially been located. This was an amazing collaboration between the brand and Lupita and the dress looked truly exquisite on her. Once it's returned to us, we will be able to have the dress restored and archived, as it now represents an important moment for the brand," Costa said in a statement.

"Collaborating with Francisco for my Oscar dress this year was such a special and unforgettable experience. I'm happy that it has been potentially recovered. It is a timeless and priceless piece of art," Nyong'o said.
