Ok, so we don't know if Samsung has seen a sales spike in their Galaxy Note 3 model since the Academy Awards, but Ellen Degeneres Oscars selfie wouldn't have hurt interest in the technology giant's popular cell-phone.

Ellen DeGeneresEllen DeGeneres' Oscars Selfie is the most retweeted image in history

In case you've been holed away for the past 24 hours, you'll have heard about Ellen's famous Oscars selfie, which broke the record for the most re-tweeted post ever and apparently 'broke' the micro-blogging website. Yep, the Academy Awards host - who did a pretty damn good job of things - gathered together a few A-list friends including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey and Meryl Streep for the most famous selfie in history.

It didn't go unnoticed that DeGeneres used her Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for the selfie, which was taken by American Hustle star Cooper. According to The Verge, Samsung had already spent millions in marketing for the Oscars, including ads, and a "massive video wall composed of 86 televisions, smartphones, and tablets showing footage from the movies nominated."

"The Oscars 2014 feel like (are?) a commercial for Samsung," Jesus Diaz wrote for Sploid, "...with Ellen DeGeneres flashing a Galaxy Note and taking selfies left right and center. It's ridiculous."

The Verge added, "Samsung's presence at the awards tonight is pretty over-the-top, extending from the Samsung Galaxy S5 commercials all the way to the stage."

However, the thing is, Ellen clearly isn't a Samsung fan-girl and pulled out her Apple iPhone for a more personal with Channing Tatum backstage. Oops.
