LATEST: The leader of cult kid's pop act THE WIGGLES will officially leave the Australian supergroup today (29NOV06). GREG PAGE, who plays the YELLOW WIGGLE on TV and onstage, has been struck down with a mystery illness which doctors have been unable to diagnose. The group has scheduled a press conference today in Perth, Australia to "make a major announcement relating to members of the group" ahead of their Australian tour. The three other members of the group - ANTHONY FIELD, MURRAY COOK and JEFF FATT - arrived in Perth yesterday (28NOV06) without Page. BLUE WIGGLE Field said on arrival, "We're very disappointed he's not with us today." RED WIGGLE Cook confirmed Page was still undergoing tests adding, "We hope he gets better, basically." It is expected the group will announce that Page will take an indefinite hiatus from the group, with longtime understudy SAM MORAN becoming a full-time member. Page co-founded The Wiggles in 1991 after he and two other members met while studying early childhood education in Sydney. The Wiggles were Australia's top-earning entertainers last year (05), ahead of rockers AC DC and NICOLE KIDMAN.
