Disney said today (Thursday) that it will appeal a ruling by a federal jury on Wednesday that it must pay the British creators of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire $269 million in damages. The program had aired on Disney-owned ABC. The British producers, Celador, had accused Disney of cheating them out of revenue that the hit show (at one time it aired five night a week) produced by artificially depressing the license fee that ABC paid to carry the show while at the same time raking in hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising revenue.
