ABC may have been asking for trouble -- courting it even -- by titling the pilot for an upcoming sitcom Good Christian Bitches . If they were, they struck gold on Wednesday when the Parents Television Council urged its million-strong members to sign a petition protesting the title. "ABC's decision is not only an affront to women, it blatantly attacks the world's largest faith," the PTC said in a statement. "The 'B-word' is toxic and is used to degrade, abuse, harass, bully and humiliate women. And the 'Christian' element only adds insult to injury." Referring to the fact that ABC is owned by the Walt Disney Co., the PTC observed that the title "has tarnished the Disney brand." Referring to the CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says and other titles, PTC President Tim Winter said, "This is the latest strike in what appears to be a concerted effort to popularize profanity on network television." Winter warned that his organization "will use every method at its disposal to turn advertisers and viewers away" fro the show.
