The stars were out in force on Thursday evening (December 1, 2011) for the CMA Country Christmas broadcast on ABC. Newly-married Jennifer Nettles of acclaimed group Sugarland, hosted the annual event which saw live performances from some of country's biggest names.
Throughout the show, taped in Nashville on November 10, musicians shared their favourite holidays moments and traditions, as well as performing a selection of festive hits. Keith Urban, Vince Gill and his wife AMY GRANT, Rascal Flatts and Kellie Pickler were amongst the biggest names playing live, while American Idol winner Scotty Mccreery performed a stirring version of 'The First Noel. Fans will have been relieved to see the country star on form after a glaring error at last week's MACy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York. Dressed in a large winter coat, Scotty stood atop a huge Christmas float but still had the microphone by his side when his voice began to fill the streets of Manhattan. Obviously lip-synching to his track 'The Trouble with Girls', MCCreery quickly corrected the error but looked sheepish throughout the remainder of the performance. Elsewhere at the CMA festive bash, Martina McBride wowed the crowd with a hugely impressive vocal performance, while Jennifer Nettles herself wrapped up the night with a rendition of Silent Night.
It has since been reported that the CMA Country Christmas beat CBS' Grammy Nominations Concert from the previous night by some 3.3 million viewers.
