Abbie Cornish was "eager to get physical" whilst filming her forthcoming movie 'Sucker Punch', according to the film's director.
Abbie Cornish, the Australian actress who is currently starring alongside Robert De Niro in 'Limitless', will "surprise" audiences with her action scenes in the new movie 'Sucker Punch', according to the director Zack Snyder.Speaking to Usa Today, the 45-year-old filmmaker said Cornish came to the movie's set eager to impress with her physicality, saying, "She came so eager to get physical and be physical. I think people will be surprised to see how much an action star she can be". 'Sucker Punch' is a fantasy-adventure movie about a young girl who is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Cornish reportedly trained for three months in mixed martial arts, sword-work and gun training, in order to prepare for the role. The actress rose to prominence after her acclaimed performance in the 2004 Australian movie 'Somersault', but it wasn't until 2006 that Cornish signed with an American agent. She subsequently landed parts in the 2008 military drama 'Stop-Loss' and the John Keats biopic 'Bright Star'.
Abbie Cornish will star alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Emily Browning in 'Sucker Punch'. The movie opens in the U.S on Friday (25th March 2011).
