Baker Street saxophonist Raphael Ravenscroft has died, aged 60.

The musician passed away at a hospital in Exeter, England on Sunday (19Oct14) after suffering a heart attack. He had been recovering from a stroke which he suffered several months earlier.

Ravenscroft was best known for playing the iconic saxophone solo on Gerry Rafferty's 1978 track Baker Street. The hit song shot him to fame and he went on to work with artists including Pink Floyd, Abba, Marvin Gaye and Robert Plant, while he also enjoyed a brief solo career.

In recent years, he worked with soul singer Duffy and dance duo Daft Punk. He stepped away from the music industry in 2012 due to health problems.
