The Swedish studio where pop supergroup Abba recorded has been forced to
close-down - after it's current owners could no longer afford the rent.
Led Zeppelin, THE Beastie Boys and Roxette were among other bands who
recorded at the POLAR STUDIOS, Sweden's answer to ABBEY ROAD.
LENNARD OESTLUND, part owner of the studio says, "I see it as a museum of
Swedish music history, especially Abba."
The studio is now scheduled to close in May (04), but Oestlund is keeping
optimistic and remains determined to open a new studio elsewhere.
He adds, "I'll keep a mixer board and some microphones and try to start a
new operation on a smaller scale."
The Polar studio's was where ABBA - who celebrated the 30th anniversary of
their Eurovision Song Contest win this week (end09APR04) - recorded their last
three albums VOULEZ-VOUS (1979), SUPER TROUPER (1980) and THE VISITORS (1981).
