The HBO series 'The Newsroom', created by Aaron Sorkin, will wrap things up for good once season three has finished.

HBO annouced the political drama series will air its third and final season in the fall of 2014, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Sorkin, who wrote the show, will be returning as an executive producer alongside Alan Poul, Scott Rudin and the newest addition to the team, Paul Lieberstein.

'The Newsroom' star Jeff Daniels, who plays 'Will McAvoy', confirmed the renewal of a third season back in September when he posted, "It's official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3."

In the same month he 'Dumb And Dumber' actor also won his first Emmy for the role and during his acceptance speech he thanked the whole cast and crew for their efforts.

"Thank you to HBO. I can't imagine a more creative place to work, they're so supportive," he said during his acceptance speech. "The cast and crew-I share this with you."

The show centers around the fictional news station Atlantis Cable News (ACN) and depicts what occurs behind-the scenes as they try to deliver their own unique style of broadcast, as well as featuring real-life event.

The end of second season aired a two-part show taking place on election night 2012.

The program's appeal was best explained by HBO programming president Michael Lombardo in an interview with THR last April (2013).

"It felt like the show was hitting a smart, adult audience that many of our dramas weren't," he said at that time, adding, "For a thinking audience, it's appointment viewing."

'The Newsroom' also stars Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn and Sam Waterston.
