The In Da Club hitmaker was ordered to hand over the sum to Lastonia Leviston, who shares a child with 50's rap rival Rick Ross, for emotional distress and violation of her civil rights on Friday (10Jul15), after a New York jury found him guilty of leaking intimate film footage of the woman and her then-boyfriend in 2009 as part of his Pimpin' Curly spoof video.

However, the case was put on hold for a week on Monday (13Jul15) when 50, real name Curtis Jackson, filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford, Connecticut - on the same day he was due to testify in the Big Apple about his finances.

Now Leviston's lawyer has filed a motion to lift the stay to allow the case to move forward, amid allegations the defendant sought bankruptcy protection to evade appearing in court in New York, where the jury was due to consider additional punitive damages.

Leviston's legal representative also wants to ensure the rapper will still have to pay up, despite claiming he's going broke.

50 Cent's attorney has yet to respond to the accusations, but the rapper assured fans on Monday the bankruptcy filing was just to protect his finances, stating, "I'm taking the precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation. When you're successful and stuff, you become a target. I don't wanna be a bulls eye. I don't want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that."
